It’s been a year since the last time we visited this steakhouse, Hog’s Breath, in Central Park Mall, Jakarta. Last week, we managed to revisit to try their new menu that will be available soon next month. This time we didn’t take any pictures about the restaurant, but you can check our previous review (including history) of this Australian chain steakhouse.
Without further ado, let’s go to the F&B!
Shirley Temple IDR 55,000
Refreshing and fruity without being overly sweet. Perfect for beating the hot and humid weather while dining at Hog’s Breath because (sadly) the place is always very hot.
Jumbo Finger Food Combo IDR 149,000
Hog’s Breath has a massive selection of appetizers, or Hog-etisers as they call it, you can opt for all-in-one platter which we truly recommend! This set compiles all the available appetizers on one menu, including potato skins, buffalo wings, crumbed chicken tenders, salt and pepper dusted calamari, prawn spring rolls, Monterey cheese sticks, portion of curly fries, and served with lime sweet chili sauce & Hog’s Breath honey mustard. If you love fried stuffs, these are definitely a heavenly choice to order, and don’t forget to dip those into the finger-licking good sauces!
Chicken Schnitzel
So basically the new menu that will be available soon is the Schnitzel (Chicken or Pork) and we got to try both. I personally always think that Schnitzel is just a simple dish that everyone can make, but to get a really good one can be a bit tricky. Surprise, surprise! The chicken one was so good that I was hooked since the first bite. The chicken was so soft and fragile, but not lumpy, with a texture almost looks like fish. Usually I put a lot of sauce, chili whatever when I eat my schnitzel but this one was well seasoned so I didn’t need anything else. I actually wondered how Chicken Schnitzel can impress me that much, LOL.
Pork Schnitzel
Thicker, more solid version of the chicken. This was so much similar to pork katsu, minus the tonkatsu sauce. XD I am still amazed by how they made the meat so tender despite the thickness, and the super crunchy skin just keep haunting me for more.
Smoked Pork BBQ Ribs (Full Rack) IDR 298,000
Hog’s Style braised pork spare ribs basted in Hickory Smoked BBQ sauce and served with curly fried or mashed and seasonal vegetables or salad.
These pork ribs were huge, thick, but the meat were soft and easily pulled off from the bones. The BBQ sauce was clearly the winner! Get your hands dirty, it’s all worth it!
Also available in Half-Rack for IDR 178,000.
Beef BBQ Ribs
When dealing with ribs, I am always a pork person rather than beef, but this was also equally delicious. Meat-wise, this was less meaty than the pork, and had more tendon/fat rather than meat.
El Grande Prime Rib Steak (Regular) IDR 249,000
Prime rib steak topped with Mexican salsa, warm cheese sauce and sliced jalapenos.
This is Hog’s Breath’s signature Prime Rib Steak cooked El Grande style. The Prime Rib steak is slow-cooked for at least 18 hours, then finished with high temperature searing on a char-grill. The main point is, although each steak has been slow-cooked, the rawness can still be maintained and believe it or not, we can still order medium-rare level (which is the most recommended level to enjoy the Hog’s Breath prime rib steak).
The steak still looked pinkish red in the inside and it was just perfect. The softness and tenderness could be really felt when I cut it, different from our first experience eating this prime rib steak in this same restaurant last year. The steak was so juicy I cringed everytime I put the cuts into my mouth, it was just SOOO GOOD! The El Grande style toppings also enhanced the flavors and spices, perfect!
Also available in Lite Cut/170 gram (IDR 218,000) and Boss Hog/300 gram (IDR 318,000).
Mississippi Mud Cake IDR 69,000
For the dessert, we gotta try this Mud Cake which was dense yet maintained its softness. Loved the presentation as well as the taste. Would come back for more!
We had fab time enjoying the dishes and reconfirming once again that Hog’s Breath *is* undeniably our favorite steakhouse in Jakarta so far. We might not visit this place often because of the location and go to Outback Ratu Plaza more often to fulfill our cravings for awesome steaks, but that doesn’t change the fact that Hog’s Breath still wins our hearts much more! We are wishing that Hog’s Breath Jakarta can stay awesome for long, long time and we’ll believe we will make another visit soon!
