I love Italian food. Most of the time, I cook it myself. Pasta is one of the easiest items to handle in your pantry. Just boil it up, add some meat and sauce, and voilà, you’ve got a meal! Taste can be greatly varied by altering the sauce. Because they are easy to make, to me it isn’t worth ordering at an Italian restaurant. However, once in a while, something caught my eye, like this particular time.

Spageddies was started in Texas, USA around 1992. Throughout the years it managed to expand internationally to a few countries including Indonesia. In addition to main dishes, they also sell various cakes to die for such as tiramisu, cheesecake, etc.

Lime Squash – IDR 18K
As I ordered this, our server warned me the lime would be coming from a bottle, not freshly squeezed. Regardless I went for it anyway. It was a nice gesture that he informed me, since that meant he knew his stuff.

Spaghetti with Meat Sauce – IDR 40K
A basic Italian home-made dish. Everything was great except for the sauce which was too watery.

Fettuccine Alfredo – IDR 50K
The pasta and the mushroom were properly cooked and not too salty.

Chicken Fettuccine – IDR 50K
It tasted okay but it hurt my eyes to look at such bland presentation. At least add some tomatoes and parsley for garnish.

Squid-Ink Ravioli with Seafood- IDR 60K
This thing got my attention immediately. Squid-ink pasta is rare and difficult to make. This one hit home-runs. First, the portion, it looked small at first but it took me some time to finish it. The sweetness of the sauce tangoed with the distinctive iodine, briny flavor of the squid-ink, resulting in a burst of flavor in your mouth. If only the sauce had been thicker, it’d be perfect (and while I’m at it, more seafood, please!). Regardless, I was very satisfied.

Three-Meat Pizza – IDR 70K
What is an Italian meal without the comfort food, pizza?? This pizza was quite simple, the way I like it: tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, italian sausage, and ham. Simple, yet delicious.

Atmosphere: Casual.
Service: It was difficult to signal the waiters/waitresses as they were mostly nowhere to be seen. However, once you did get their attentions, they were very friendly.
Price*: $$$, 15.5% tax + service.
Parking: Plenty.

Hours: Mon-Sun 10am-10pm.
