Yesterday I found this newly opened coffee shop called Woodpecker (what a cute name!) around Panglima Polim neighborhood in Kebayoran area. Located just beside Holy Gyu! and opposite to Taco Local and Mangia, it is right in the middle of happening areas in Panglima Polim so it’s easy to spot despite not having a big signboard in front side (yet).

Woodpecker Coffee is another creation of Common House team, which also manages the already-popular Mama Goose Restaurant & Bar. Now are you convinced enough to try this coffee shop? 😉 When I went inside, I had this feeling of cleanliness, comfort and simplicity, that are perfectly pictured from the surroundings and minimum decorations. Well, I simply love it. The place is a kind of coffee shop that I want to come like, everyday. No hassle, no intimidation, as simple as that. I spotted there are 2 long tables with stool chairs that are neatly organized, and the counter in the middle of the room. There is also a separated smoking area, which looks much more comfortable than the main area (just like majority of the coffee shops here and actually I don’t really mind!).
Cute woodpecker symbolizes the coffee shop.

Variety of magazines is quite amazing, many Japanese ones too!

Simple, sleek interior design that makes you want to stay longer.

Smoking area ahead, there is cushioned seats for maximum comfort!

Woodpecker Coffee has just opened less than a month ago, and currently they are open from 10AM to 10PM everyday, but I was told that soon they will open from 7AM, which is much better if you’re operating a coffee shop, IMHO! The menu is all about coffee with prices ranging from IDR 15K to 27K only! How cool is that? I mean, I expected more expensive prices for a place like this in this kind of neighborhood, but boy, I was totally wrong! Beside the coffee, there is only one food menu available at the moment, which is Waffle, that costs only IDR 15K. Of course there is additional price of IDR 5K – 10K for additional topping, but who cares, right? It’s still friggin’ cheap!
BTW about the coffee, the barista told me that now they are using mixed coffee beans, which is 50% Bali, 30% Ciwidey, and 20% Lintong. I am no coffee expert but I usually enjoy medium body with low acidity and I don’t really mind citrusy touch in my coffee. From all that I tried this time, I concluded that I like their coffee, it was strong and tasty, without being so harsh on the throat, and had the medium thickness that I enjoyed so much. The coffee was aromatic and gave soothing and calming effect, which made me wanting to have another shot.

Piccolo IDR 20K

Iced Flat White IDR 25K

I also tried the Affogato, actually for the sake of the presentation, but it actually came in an already-mixed cup, although I wished they gave me a glass with ice cream on the glass neck and let me pouring the coffee myself. -__-; However, when I tasted it, I was glad that this also was another success and I really enjoyed it. The coffee was more acidic that the other two, and had bold thickness and taste, but when mixed with the ice cream, it was perfectly fine and delicious.

Affogato IDR 20K

Overall, although my visit was considered quite short and quick this time, I will make sure that there will be other ones anytime soon. I think this place will soon become more crowded when people know about it and I do hope they will go well and of course, adding more menu won’t hurt. XD
See you again soon, Woodpecker!
