After we finished our romantic dinner at Bistronomy, we immediately headed to Gandaria City to enjoy yet another Valentine’s dinner at Churreria. It is a weird but interesting story why we went for the second dinner for Valentine’s day, and I am gonna write this down for the sake of memories =D
So, on the midnight of February 13th, I was browsing through my food photos collection in my phone when I stumbled upon the photo of Royale Chocolate, one of my favorite drinks in Churreria. So I suddenly missed that drink so much and posted that pic in Instagram. The next morning (February 14th), I was on the way to a meeting when I checked the notification and I was surprised to see the comment below the photo stating that I won a Valentine’s dinner. I mean like, I even had no idea that there was a competition going on that time. *sweat* #gaupdatedbanget
So in the other words, I won this competition just because I kind of ‘joined’ it randomly. And it was funny when I think about it, because I could have posted other photos. When I was contacted by phone, I told them I already had appointment in another place for dinner that day, but I could squeeze it in after my first dinner. The staff who contacted me also said that she wouldn’t be there that night, but she would make sure that she told the other staffs about us and also confirmed that I would be coming with my partner.
I arrived in the Gandaria City’s Churreria outlet around 8.30 PM, and showed the message to one of the waitresses. To my horror, nobody seemed to be informed about us or anything, so we felt kind of awkward for a moment. Later on, she got back to our table giving this menu pamphlet asking us to order 1 set (3 courses menu), and that time we asked ourselves, “Why did she only give us 1 set instead of 2?”, but we didn’t say anything and proceed with our orders.
Before we ordered, she told us that Aglio Olio pasta and Green Apple Mojito were sold out. We were quite disappointed but well.
Fettuccine Carbonara
This was my first time trying their food besides desserts, and I have to say I am quite impressed. The Carbonara sauce was really tasty and aromatic, with generous sprinkles of oregano and cheese, it pleased my palates as well as my eyes. The consistency was a bit runny, though, which I don’t really mind because I don’t really enjoy creamy, thick sauce for this kind of portion.
El Tropicana
This drink, in the other side, wasn’t really my cup of tea, because I just didn’t understand the taste. It used a lot of ice cubes which killed the sweetness and the real taste when we let it sit for a while. And of course they didn’t expect me to drink that all in second, did they? I appreciated the generous amount of sliced strawberries and peaches, though, very nice!
Modern Black Forest
Absolutely loved this. Churros were hot and crispy, thick chocolate, delicious ice cream, and rum, need to say more? Thank you, thank you, thank you, for including this fabulous dessert in the V-day’s dinner menu!
After we kind of finished our first set, I called the waitress and asked about the writings in the promotion pamphlet they put on the table.
I asked because I read that the winner gets FREE ROMANTIC DINNER FOR TWO, which just makes sense because if you win a Valentine’s dinner and you just win ONE SET then it means one of the couple doesn’t eat or just stare at the other one eating? The waitress answered that she was informed that she just needed to give 1 set menu, that’s all. Later she told me she would contact the manager or whoever responsible to ask about this, and some minutes later, she informed that we could order another set. That was funny but we were glad that they sorted things out quite nicely. Thank you, Churreria & the staffs.
Italian Meatball Spaghetti
It came in a very big portion, which I appreciated a lot although practically both I and Mr. K were almost dead that time. TOO FULL! The spaghetti was nice but overcooked so it was too soft for me, the meatballs were superb! I don’t really like red sauce but this one was great, again, so aromatic, full of herbs and spices, and very generous.
Summer Tea
I loved the distinctive taste of the tea blended with the citrusy aroma of lemon and berries. Perfect combination with all the sweetness dosage we took in that night.
Banana Boom
Two chunks of bananas were really great to be enjoyed with the ice cream scoops and churros, lovely treats!
I also got the chance to sit in the outdoor area this time, and loved the atmosphere. It was quite hot but very romantic.
And of course, we had to order this particular drink which brought us there that night.
TA-DAH!
Royale Chocolate IDR 36K
Thick, creamy hot chocolate, that will make your day anytime, anywhere. Thank you!
Last but not least, thank you so much to Churreria Gandaria City for the Valentine’s Dinner, we really enjoyed our time there, see you again soon!
