Last Friday, we had the opportunity to join the Grand Launching event of Seafood Fiesta at RASA Restaurant, which is located on the second floor of InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza. Few months ago, we also posted a complete review about RASA, so if you’re curious about the place, food, and everything, you can read that post HERE.
Starting from 9 October 2015, RASA serves Seafood Buffet promotion at IDR 350,000++/person, valid every Friday night, including special Tuna Cutting Show on 7.30PM.
The Seafood Buffet consists of carefully-selected fresh seafood items, from French oysters, Alaskan crab, fish vegetables and skewers, lemon and thyme marinated prawns, herbs marinated squid, octopus and red onion skewers, lobster, and many more.
To be honest, I am not a big seafood eater, I don’t dislike them but it’s just a so-so feeling. The first thing I tried was the mussels and crab, and boy I couldn’t stop eating! The crabs were served nicely in smaller cuts so it was easy to eat even without getting my hands dirty (LOL yes I used fork and spoon to eat the crab! XD). The seafood were great and fresh, amazing because they all tasted naturally sweet without any smelly smell, if you know what I mean.
Plus side was there were red/white wines available and you can always ask the waiters to pop some bottles and pour them into your glass. Love my seafood with sips of white wine, perfect!
As typical RASA’s buffet stations, beside the seafood station, we can also enjoy variety of international dishes from East to West, including bread, cheese, ham station, sushi, Indian food station, salad corner, barbecue station in the outdoor area, and also dessert station. Time for photos!
But, the peak of the Seafood Fiesta promotion should be the Tuna Cutting Show, which will be held every Friday night at 7.30PM! We were surprised to see Ms. Ako, a super talented chef that we knew from Tontoki, was also there. Truth be told, she was the “mentor” of the other chefs who were going to perform the tuna cutting show later that night. Captured the moments of “teaching” and we were proud to say that the show was surely gonna be a blast!
The tuna that was cut in this event was a 40 kg yellowfin tuna from Sulawesi. The chef started by cutting the fin, head, tail, and later opened up the body. It was a good show.
After the tuna was cut open, the meat was sliced beautifully by some chefs including Chef Ako. It was amazing to see her with the knife, glad that we captured some shots during the action. XD
The sliced tuna would then distributed to the guests right away, as sashimi or sushi. I didn’t try any, though, because I was quite full with the seafood earlier.
Overall, we really had so much fun that night, especially with large selection of assortments, our ultimate favorite was the seafood and ham/cheese station for sure. If you want to enjoy high quality seafood with affordable price, don’t miss this promotion.
The Seafood Fiesta is priced at IDR 350,000++/person, inclusive of iced tea or iced lemon tea. Don’t forget to stay until 7.30PM to witness a tuna cutting live show only every Friday night!
Ciao!
