I was born and grew up in a big family of 6 and now since all of us are married and (some) have children already, the family gets scattered apart and we rarely have chance to enjoy quality time together. That’s why Sunday Brunch is always an important event in our family that we always look forward to do every Sunday, and I bet many of you also have this similarity when it comes to spend delightful Sunday with your loved ones.

I was very excited when I knew that ALTO Restaurant & Bar at Four Seasons Jakarta finally releases its Sunday Brunch promotion starting from February. Honestly I had been very curious about this restaurant but never had chance to visit, especially because it only opens on evenings, daily.

Located on the 20th floor of Four Seasons Jakarta in West Kuningan, South Jakarta; ALTO Restaurant and Bar is actually an Italian restaurant designed with flaming Italian passion – with exotic feel and rich, layered textures enveloping deep tones of red complemented with polished woods. Fiery yet elegant, that is my first impression of ALTO in two words.

The Sunday Brunch buffet offers stations placed in the middle of the restaurant, where you can get unlimited (all you can eat) ready-to-serve food and some made to order items like eggs dishes, pancakes and others. Interestingly, the brunch package also includes a two course meal prepared a la minute when ordering. With many choices like salads, foie gras, variety of pasta, and steaks, make sure to spare some room in your tummy to enjoy these special treats!

With all the options, it will be the first question in our heads, how much does this Sunday Brunch package cost? At IDR 895,000++/person, it’s definitely considered quite high-priced for a Sunday Brunch package, but after trying this ourselves, we must say that it is worth every cents! Keep reading to unveil the reason why we recommend you to close your eyes and splurge on this fab Sunday Brunch package! XD

The highlight of the Sunday Brunch at ALTO is definitely the magnificent selection of their Italian antipasti, cold cuts, international cheeses and freshly baked breads. Heard that from the staff that all the meats are originally imported from many parts of Italy, impressive! Supervised by Executive Chef Marco Riva, you can feel the strong flavor of Italy infused in every dishes we tried. For the cold cuts, they also put the sign of pork based cuts so if you don’t eat pork, you can always read the card or just ask. Mr. K was practically ecstatic to see THAT many kinds of cold cuts and cheeses I don’t even want to remember how much he ate that day, LOL!

Then, it was difficult not to notice this beauty, the Beher Iberico Ham which is very famous worldwide for its Spanish ham! We definitely didn’t expect to find this rare ham here in Jakarta. *0* You can google about Iberico Ham if you are interested, but we only have to tell you this was totally awesome!

My first course meal was Insalata Del Centurione, consists of grilled Romaine salad, Caesar dressing, balsamic reduction shaved Parmigiano cheese, focaccia croutons, and Parma ham. I was thinking that the additional two course meal would have been smaller than this, but boy I was totally wrong. The first course meal options are very intriguing, and fulfilling. The salad uses one big stalk (yes you heard it right, one stalk!) of Romaine lettuce, which is definitely fulfilling enough for 2 person, let alone 1 person. As much as I love it, if I visit this place for Sunday Brunch, I definitely won’t order it again, unless I don’t want to eat anything else for the second course or the buffet, LOL!

Mr. K tried Sembra Caviale: this beautiful platter of Avruga Caviar, served with condiments and blini. This is much way simpler than my order and perfect for the first course option if you still want to enjoy the buffet.

Back to the buffet stations, here comes my favorite station in the package! The grill station was awesome because everything practically tasted perfect. Let’s say, the sausage, pork ribs, the lamb roast, and the PRIME LOIN is the BEST!! Extremely tender and juicy, I wish I asked for 5 slices or more! XD

Oh, did I tell you that the brunch package rate already includes unlimited free-flow of Bloody Mary? Personally, it’s not my cup of tea, and I would prefer to have it replaced with simply said, mineral water or selection of tea, but well.

Bloody Mary for your company.

At this point, we were getting full and decided to skip the second course meals although the options are very tempting. So we moved on to the last part of the brunch – the dessert station! With choices of beautiful cakes, it was difficult to choose only few but I am planning to go back again in the near future so I didn’t want to try everything. Must try items are Earl Grey Paradise: a beautiful red dome cake with strong hint of Earl Grey flavor; 360-degree Black Forest cake: playful and perfectly delicious; and also this small, round brown cake whose name I forgot.

Beside the indoor dining area, you can also enjoy the al fresco dining in the outdoor terrace, with breath-taking prime city view. This area is smokers friendly, and honestly it is so beautiful.

Overall, compared to many hotel restaurants that also offer Sunday Brunch packages, ALTO clearly has lesser buffet stations but we feel that the quality is definitely comparable. Sometimes although there are many stations, we still have no idea what to eat because nothing interests us in particular. In ALTO, we felt that all the stations are attractive and there is always something to pick to eat. If you like Italian food, or just a fan of Western-style food in general, this place is yours.

The Sunday Brunch is available every Sunday from 11.30 AM to 3 PM, at IDR 895,000++/person (subjected to 21% tax).
