After being closed for 3 weeks for renovation, Asia Restaurant in The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, has recently opened its door again with fresher look and better offer. Still located at the lobby level of the hotel, Asia Restaurant remarks its comeback with completely different interior design, from rather outdated and old to this elegant contemporary eclectic concept including new furniture style (love the chic round booths!) and lots of glass partitions to ensure your privacy.

There is a new policy that no table can be joined one to another, so if you come in large group, you can choose the round booth seating or the upper seating area, where the tables are set together. This area is only few steps away from the main dining area so it should be okay for you to go back and forth taking your food from the buffet station to your table. In any case, if you come with group more than 6 person, it will be the best place unless you don’t mind sitting separately from your companion.

Asia Restaurant’s concept is still an all-day dining, featuring a distinctive blend of Indonesian, Western, Japanese, Chinese, and International cuisines, prepared in an open kitchen with view of the chefs in action. As one of the largest buffet islands in Jakarta, you can enjoy large variety of high quality cuisine for:

  • Breakfast 6AM – 10AM
    IDR 238,000++/pax
  • Lunch 12PM – 2.30PM
    IDR 318,000++/pax
  • Dinner 6PM – 10PM
    Weekdays IDR 348,000++/pax
    Weekends IDR 428,000++/pax
  • Sunday Brunch 12PM – 3PM
    IDR 428,000++/pax

Let’s check what they offer!

Give a try to their bread collection to start your journey in Asia! Everything is very fresh and worth trying especially if you like freshly-baked, fragrant bread. Continue with extensive selection of greens, starters like salads, pickles, and cold appetizers. My choice? Chicken wings and pumpkin salad!

Japanese station is too eye-catching to miss! They serve mostly fusion sushi, but I love how fresh their ingredients are. In term of flavor, their sushi and onigiri definitely need improvement, but the sashimi totally rocks.

Favorite station would be this Grill station featuring teppanyaki with ingredients that you pick yourselves, served with your choice of sauce. Commonly people will choose the basic teriyaki sauce, but Asia’s signature teppanyaki sauce is the Mongolian sauce which is so addictive! Don’t forget to check what else they have during your visit as well in the grill station, in our case it was Duck Burger!

If you visit Asia, you have to try their noodle. You can choose variety of noodle with 4 options of soup: Beef, Chicken, Vegetarian, or Laksa), and add the toppings as you wish. If you can, also try their Nasi Goreng Kampung in Traditional station, where you can also witness how it is made straight on the wok.

My favorite food in Asia are the legendary Asia’s Rib Eye Roast Beef and the Hainan Chicken Rice. Rumor has it that you haven’t been in Asia if you don’t try these two, LOL! XD

The dessert station deserves its own paragraph because it is completely revamped into one clean area that resembles a shop alone. Compared to the old design, the dessert station now is more compact and organized, where you can get everything in one reach. From fresh fruits to beautiful cakes, chocolate sauce to ice creams, it’s enough to make us happy. Make sure to try their Cendol Cake and ice creams, I am in love with their Spice of Life flavor which is combination of orange and cinnamon, YUM!

Overall, the new Asia Restaurant is much, much better than the old one, not only in how it looks, but also the food. Everything looks very attractive and inviting, and that’s not always the case when we go to hotel restaurant’s buffet. Congratulations for the reopening and we wish Asia Restaurant the best luck!
