It has been few months after our short staycation at Amaroossa Cosmo Hotel Jakarta, and since we had kind of mixed feelings during our stay there, we decided to blog about it. 😉

Amaroossa Hotel is part of KAGUM Hotel Group that also manages modern-style hotels under the brands of Serela, Grand Serela, Gino Feruci, Zodiak, and many others. In Indonesia, there are 6 Amaroossa Hotels, which are Amaroossa Cosmo Hotel Jakarta, Amaroossa Residence Jakarta, Amaroossa Bandung, Amaroossa Royal Bogor, Amaroossa Suite Bali, and Amaroossa Grande Bekasi.

Amaroossa Hotel itself is a boutique hotel, which usually refers to smaller hotels with less than 100 rooms. In Amaroossa Cosmo, there are only 98 rooms in total, which perfectly fits into boutique hotel description. In term of style, Amaroossa Hotels always have modern contemporary theme with a touch of gothic style, that I find very interesting.

Located in Jalan Pangeran Antasari, the hotel is farther up Kemang street, and even for us who live in South Jakarta, we think it’s pretty far. The building is quite easy to find since it’s right there on the main street, but traffic can be bad almost all the time. If you come for a relaxing stay and don’t plan to go to many places from this hotel, it is definitely a great pick.

We arrived around 4PM and luckily we got a parking spot right in front of the lobby. I saw there is a basement but many cars were parked in front of the basement entrance, so I don’t know if that is available as parking area or not.

As we entered the hotel, a very fancy and chic lobby with high ceiling welcomed us. Obviously, we were happy with what we saw, and couldn’t wait to see our room! However, we were quite disappointed that despite our late arrival, the receptionist said that our room wasn’t ready yet and we needed to wait for another 20-30 minutes. FYI, their check-in time is supposedly 2 PM and it was already 4+PM when we proceeded to check-in. Big minus point.

Luckily, just by the right of the entrance, we spotted Bellarosa Lounge, the hotel lounge which looked promising. Better yet, it was an odd hour so nobody was there, and we could enjoy some quietness and peaceful atmosphere to relax a bit.

This lounge has an outdoor seating area too, which is connected to the swimming pool and live stage by the end. I must say that the swimming pool is quite very small, and both kids and adults pool looked so shallow. The good thing is, it looked pretty clean.

While we were waiting for our rooms, we ordered 2 drinks, I forgot the other one, but the first (green) one is named Snuffy Juice (IDR 35,000++), a combination of blended pineapples and leaf mustard, which was actually quite good! Added with the beautiful surrounding of the lounge, the afternoon couldn’t have been better.

Finally, our room was ready! We went upstairs and again, the hallways are kept simple and clean, with minimum lighting that enhanced the atmosphere of goth.

For this stay, we picked the Suite Room with a very competitive rate of IDR 1,200,000/night (taxes included). Basically there are 3 room types in Amaroossa Cosmo (Deluxe, Executive, and Suite), while the main difference is just the size/space, all 3 room types have similar furniture and decorations.

The Suite room is 41 sqm and looks even more spacious with lots of glass walls. Beside the bed, there is also a comfortable sofa bed near the window, and don’t forget the desk and chair. Everything looked great at a glance but when I got closer, there were actually many stains in the sheets (and I don’t even wanna know what kind of stains those were, LOL!) of bed and sofa. Plus, the pillows had an unpleasant smell like oily hair or something. I know that I couldn’t expect the sheets to be changed like, everyday, but if the previous guest can’t maintain the cleanliness of the sheets, then (I think) it’s mandatory to replace everything before the next guest comes.

The bathroom is separated from the toilet, and to be honest, I don’t really like separated bathrooms. Moreover, this toilet room gave me creeps because it was darn cold, and the floor was sticky.

Bathroom itself was quite okay, beside the shower box, there is also a bathtub. Just like typical modern-style hotel nowadays, the wall separating bathroom to bedroom is also made from glass, but worry not, there is a curtain if you need privacy. *ahem*

I appreciate the availability of both rain shower and hand shower in the box, and the fact that the running water was strong, it was undeniably one of the perks of the stay. BUT! The water kinda stinks and it took minutes for the showers to actually release hot water, and yes, it stinks. Actually before I came, I have checked some of the reviews about this hotel in TripAdvisor and some people seem to experience the same problem.

While the bathroom matter was quite disappointing, I must say that as a boutique hotel, it provides quite a complete amenities including bathrobe, iron, safety box, slippers, even umbrella! That is very thoughtful of them if it is provided in every room.

Our stay in this hotel -like our usual weekend staycation-, was a 2D1N stay from Saturday to Sunday. When we went up to our room, it was already 5PM and we left again to look for dinner somewhere else around 6.30PM. During our short stay before dinner, we experienced electric blackout few times. The blackout periods were not long, but happened few times and we are sorry to say it was a major discomfort for both the hotel and guests. After coming back from dinner, it happened again when I was in shower, LOL. XD

However, it doesn’t mean that our stay was not a pleasant one. In fact, we really enjoyed the spacious room, the cold air conditioner, and most importantly, the ambience is so lovely that we felt so relaxed and comforted. It was a one good night sleep we had there.

Andromeda Coffee Shop & Restaurant

Since our hotel rate already includes breakfast for 2, we went early in the morning to grab some food. The restaurant is located by the left of lobby, just opposite of Bell Lounge, with open kitchen concept and buffet stations.

Food selections are not too many but more than enough for a fulfilling breakfast.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel, although many things were not working 100% well. I must say that for a getaway, the location couldn’t be more perfect, but if you visit Jakarta for sightseeing, you might want to check hotels with more attractions nearby. This hotel is close to few malls like Lippo Kemang Village, Cilandak Town Square and so on, but the traffic sometimes is bad, and definitely is not within walking distance.

Well, I hope that the management can somehow see this post and do something about the shower and blackout, at least. Hopefully the next time we are there (yes, we’ll want to stay again sometime in the future!), we can see some improvements.

Thank you for reading, hope this review helps! 😉
