The Singhasari Resort is the first five-stars resort in East Java, a perfect blend of Indonesian culture, traditions, lifestyle and beauty. The magnificent ambience combines natural, contemporary and ancient Singhasari Kingdom design, with exotic view of the 3 biggest mountains in East Java.
This was not my first time visiting Batu city, but last time I went there, I only stopped by Jatim Park II (zoo, museums, and playland) so I am not familiar yet with the city. I was surprised to find that The Singhasari Resort is located in a big street, with many shops and restaurants around. Despite the location, to reach the lobby, it took a while so rest assured, the resort atmosphere was strongly felt.
First of all, the resort surely takes really large area of complex. The lobby itself is super spacious and has a clean and elegant ambience, thanks to the minimal usage of colors and high ceiling. The semi-open space concept brings a nice mix of Indonesian traditional design with modern touch, giving an updated and chic look into the entire room.
This set of gamelan (Javanese traditional musical instruments) nicely decorates a part of the lobby. This photo was taken in the evening so pardon the different lighting. XD
Beautiful inner lobby area with fancy and comfortable sofa to lounge around, or just to enjoy the view towards the magnificent view of the mountains surrounded by the greens. I could spend hours just sitting here doing nothing, LOL!
The name “Singhasari” is taken from a name of Javanese kingdom located in East Java between 1222 and 1292. I myself am a fan of Indonesian history back in the old days, when Indonesia used to have so many glorious and respected kingdoms. Singhasari Kingdom is the beginning of the glory and later it continued to Majapahit Kingdom, one of the greatest and most powerful empires in history of Indonesia and Southeast Asia. I can go on and on talking about all these great Javanese kingdoms, but let’s stick to The Singhasari Resort for now. XD
After we finished the check-in process, we went to our room immediately, which is located just on the same floor with the lobby. Unlike typical nowadays hotels, the corridors are quite spacious and (again) very clean.
Our room is the Deluxe Room which has the published rate of IDR 1,600,000/night (tax included). The 32 sqm room has one double bed, 32″ LCD screen TV with satellite channels, safe deposit box, individual air conditioning, shower, internet access and private balcony. The Deluxe Rooms are overlooking magnificent view of Arjuno Mount or Panderman Mount, depends on the side your room faces.

If you notice my rating above, yes, I rated 9 for the Room Comfort, merely because of the shower. There was nothing wrong with the provided shower, but I prefer rain shower with hand shower attached. I guess that’s just my personal preference, but well. The bathroom is quite spacious but it wasn’t as clean as other parts of the room. But overall, it was alright.
I must say that the Private Balcony really boost our happiness level to certain extent. The balcony isn’t big but enough for two person relaxing around while enjoying the well-maintained garden and overlooking the swimming pool area. I was glad we got the room we were in, because the view couldn’t be more perfect.
If Jakarta has Puncak (Cipanas etc) and Bandung as a getaway, then Surabaya has Malang and Batu. Due to its location like Puncak, Batu can’t be more perfect for me because its average daily temperature is about 15-19 degrees of Celsius. It’s perfect getaway especially after spending days in Surabaya which is even hotter and more humid than Jakarta.
The stairs down to the swimming pool area, which is called Tlogowangi Pool. Beautiful and spacious area, walking path, and many lounge chairs to just relax and enjoy the sun.
The Tlogowangi pool offers a magnificent swimmable lagoon as well as recreation activities, such as indoor Jacuzzi, sauna pool basketball, pool volleyball and water slide.
Kids Pool is also available, located just next to adult pool with only 0.5 meters depth. The greatest thing about the pools is that they looked very clean and inviting, the water was so clear and clean, especially in the water slide area because nobody used it. XD Too bad the pools had really limited operating hours (I think it is until 6PM only) and we didn’t get to try it in the end.
Beside swimming, we can also do various activities like playing foosball, table tennis, billiard games, and even indoor activities like jacuzzi with short water healing techniques, sauna, and exercises in fitness center.
Aside from Kids Playground (outdoor, more details later), there is Dewi Anjani Kids Club, which is an indoor playing facilities for children between 3-12 years old. In this room, kids can enjoy fun and educated activities such as kite making, ball game, drawing and others.
Back again in the lobby, we explored the other side of the resort from the Kutaraja Restaurant (review will be up separately soon). More greens and gardens along the way, well-maintained and super clean surroundings (and air, for sure!) that made us rejuvenated completely.
The Kids Playground is not big but more than enough for kids to have fun and enjoy their playful times. I especially like the fact that the outdoor playground is located just next to tennis/basketball fields, so while the adults can have some playtime, they can also monitor the kids in the playground. Nice!
The Agastya Wedding Chapel beautifully captures 180-degree view of Semeru mountain and Malang city. Floating 3.75 meter above the ground level, enable couples to have a sparkle of starlight and city view wedding at night. The roof of the chapel is adapted from leaf which is a pray for the couple for their harmonious wedding life. Designed architecturally to accommodate all religion, The Agastya Wedding chapel is a perfect destination for couples seeking to host a simple and contemporary wedding to ancient traditional Javanese wedding.
Basketball and Tennis Court adjacent to the Flying Fox, the latest facility of the resort. With length of 110 meters and height of 20 meters, the facility offers experience on adrenaline overviewing Panderman and Semeru Mountains.
Beside its function as a resort, The Singhasari is also a Convention Center, and the biggest Convention Hall they have is named Kertanegara Convention Hall.
Inspired by one of the greatest king of Singhasari kingdom, Kertanegara Convention Hall is the biggest convention and wedding venue in East Java. Located right in front of the lobby, The Kertanegara Convention Hall has its own separate entrance allow you to have more private events. The architectural is designed to be column free and 9.5 meter-high ceiling will make a perfect venue to organizing events such as meeting, gathering, seminar, wedding or expo. Amazingly, Kertanegara Convention Hall could host up to 6000 people.
The Singhasari Resort has 3 eateries: Kutaraja Restaurant, Hayam Wuruk Lounge, and Dimension Roof Top Bar. Kutaraja Restaurant is the main restaurant where hotel guests have breakfasts and it’s also open for lunch and dinner. We got the opportunity to try the delicacies there, but it’ll be posted up separately after this review, so stay tuned if you’re interested. 😉
Our 2D1N stay at The Singhasari Resort was magnificently wonderful and memorable. Everything was almost perfect it was like a dream. The whole place is beautiful, the room was so comfortable that we had one of the safest and sound sleep we had ever had for a while, and the hospitality was just beyond great. I really want to go back staying there again someday, preferably with my family and we can have fun together in the resort.
