Couple of weeks ago, I had lunch in this fancy restaurant, Oakroom
, which is located on the 3rd floor of Oakwood Premier Cozmo in Mega Kuningan area. Actually I found this place quite “accidentally” as I just go there usually for a drink in Loewy
which is located at the main lobby. I think for most people, Oakwood complex is kind of identical to Loewy
although there are many other interesting places waiting to be explored inside the building! And somehow I am glad I went to this Oakroom
restaurant during daytime because the photos are always better taken under the natural light, don’t you think?
The restaurant is very big and spacious, separated into 4 major areas: indoor, outdoor (Al Fresco), lounge, and bar area. The indoor area is of course the largest one, can seat up to 58 person, but the 4 areas altogether have a total seating capacity of 144 person.
Oakroom offers wide selection of international, local and Asian-themed dishes; and of course, seemingly-endless options of beverages. Prices range from IDR 20K – 325K.
Tagliatelle Al Salmon ala Cartocio IDR 70K
Tagliatelle pasta cooked and baked with fresh cherry tomatoes, cream sauce and Tasmanian salmon served in baking paper. The pasta was decent, not special or great, but pretty nice. I somehow think that the pasta itself was perfectly cooked, with certain degree of hardness (which I like!) and the seasonings were good enough to make everything so tasty. The salmon wasn’t really the star of the dish, to be honest, but the cream sauce made up for it.
Chinese Smoked Duck Pizza IDR 65K
The pizza was the kind of thin, crispy crust one, but the toppings were spread quite generously. This smoked duck pizza also used plum sauce, which I could only taste very slightly. Sprinkled with crispy fried wonton skin on top, it was fun to eat!
Grilled Barbecued Ribs with A Burger Bun IDR 80K
This burger made me interested the moment I saw the title on the menu. The boneless meat was quite thick and instantly put smiles on everyone’s faces! The meat was very soft and tender despite its thickness, and together with the buns, it was such a nice burger, honest. The barbecue sauce was also very strong, although I thought it was a bit too sweet for my taste. However, it was still a delicious burger and is definitely included in my recommended list!
Oakwood Pizza IDR 80K
Tender chicken, sliced smoked beef, bell pepper, pineapple, mushrooms, tomato, avocado and black olives. Colorful and full of toppings pizza, I don’t even have anything to complain about!
Soto Nasi Campur IDR 40K
Clear chicken broth served with steamed rice, cabbage, shredded chicken, bean sprouts, egg, potato cake, crackers, and garlic chips. Didn’t try this myself but heard that it was surprisingly nice. I’ve been in many ‘upscale’ international-themed restaurants which fail so miserably presenting local cuisine, so don’t blame me for being skeptical.
Gado-Gado IDR 35K
My first impression: what a beautiful presentation! Well, actually it was because the peanut sauce was served separately from the veggies, that’s all. XD Again, this also didn’t disappoint so clearly ordering Indonesian cuisine in Oakroom can be a good choice.
Red Velvet in The Glass IDR 55K
Who can resist beautiful Red Velvet cake? Because eating slice of it served on a plate is too mainstream, Oakroom has another way of presentation that brings the Red Velvet experience to another new level! Yup, they serve the cake in a cute short glass, layered with rich cream cheese, then complimented by a scoop of strawberry ice cream and a cherry on top! The cake was bold and delicious, although the downside was the quantity. However, when mine was served, it was still frozen somehow so I found it too hard to be enjoyed fully.
Lychee Iced Tea IDR 23K
Mocha Iced Tea IDR 23K
This mocha iced tea was very nice actually, a combination between mocha syrup and iced tea. Mocha is one of my favorite taste (and fragrance) and combined with tea, it became a super nice, aromatic drink.
Iced Chocochino IDR 27K
Brewed coffee, chocolate syrup, fresh milk. Another nice combination, aromatic and addictive!
Cranberry Iced Tea IDR 23K
In term of food, Oakroom surprisingly serves quite good food with nice selections. I think even only for drinking or relaxing, the place can be a good choice, especially the beautiful Al Fresco area. During my visit, it was a lunch time on Saturday yet it was very quiet and private, an atmosphere that I like (maybe that’s why I dislike mainstream places, ha!). However, despite such condition, the staffs weren’t available at all and it was very difficult just to call them to make order, ask for assistance, etc. And the food were served after we waited for about 50+ minutes, if I remember correctly. I wonder how the situation would be during peak hours?
Nevertheless, I had good food in good place named Oakroom, so I hope I can come back again another chance!
