I had been wanting to visit this particular restaurant, Hawaiian Bistro, which is located in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area. Last time I went there, I took the opportunity to visit it and I must say I had a super great time there.
First of all, the place is superb. I was totally impressed (and still am!) by how the interior and everything in there could make me feel like I was really somewhere in Hawaii. And FYI, I wasn’t even seated inside or upstairs, where the feeling could have been stronger. I picked my table outside and totally loved the ambiance, music, and everything. The only missing component is the ocean breeze, but I heard they are going to expand soon in Seminyak, Bali; so problem is solved!

Iced Tea “Kii” – Strawberry Mint IDR 28K
A very refreshing drink, combination of sweet and sour strawberries with minty mint. Loved it!

Kilkenny Irish Beer IDR 35K
Chilling out and relaxing is never complete without a glass of beer!

Ono Musubi IDR 25K
Ono Musubi is a Japanese style rice block wrapped with nori, similar like sushi. We can choose the meat according to our liking, there are original (pork), chicken katsu, BBQ chicken, and turkey. I chose the original one, which used spam on top. It actually comes in big chunk of roll, but we can ask them to cut, which they will cut to 3 pieces. The taste was very similar to sushi, but the rice almost had no taste, unlike the sushi rice. I think this would be nice too with beef luncheon.

Shaka Fries IDR 30K
Basically it was a bunch of french fries served with brown gravy. The plate was cute, in a shape of lip and the portion was satisfying. The gravy was served separately so it’s up to us how much we want to put into the fries or whether we want to just use it for dipping sauce. The gravy had nice texture, not too thick and not runny either.

Ko’olau Kalua Pork IDR 58K
This is one of traditional Hawaiian dishes and I admit I ordered this because of the good photo in the menu book. The presentation was very cute and later I just realized that the way it was arranged representing the Hawaiian female body from chest to hip. So cute yet intriguing, don’t you think? The pork was absolutely, crazily DELICIOUS. Actually it was a smoked pulled pork, whatever that means, and it tasted like SMOKED pork! Honestly, it was like, the pork was wrapped with various herbs, spices and leaves, then smoked with real fire or something. It was soft, aromatic, and fresh in the same time. This is just too good and needs more recognition.

Well, we had a good chat with some of the staffs (they were very kind and helpful, BTW!) and it seems like one of the chefs is real Hawaiian guy so no wonder the food are kinda authentic in lots of senses. I was very impressed with the selections of menu but too bad I didn’t try many because I had another food tasting session afterwards. But before I left, of course I just had to try one of Hawaiian must-eat food, the shaved ice!

North Shore Shaved Ice IDR 20K
My first impression was “Wow, this is so damn big!”, like, seriously. @__@ Served in a conch-shaped glass, it was beautiful and made me wondering for a while whether I should eat it or not. XD However, the shaved ice was not exactly my favorite because the ice was still quite big and rough, making it difficult to swallow. The syrup was okay, though.

Overall, a nice dining experience with helpful and polite staffs, beautiful place and good food. If they open in Bali, I think the experience will be thousand times better because there will be ocean, beach and everything related to the theme. There are still so many food I wanna try here, so I will make sure I am coming back soon!
