Some months ago, we visited this restaurant after a bowling session in EX Plaza Indonesia. That time, we were craving for Thai food so we chose King of Thai. The place is not too big, with modern minimalist interior design, the distance among tables are quite close, so I think it’s lacking of privacy. We were lucky because it was lunch time and nobody was there except us.
The first food that I ordered was of course, Som Tum (green papaya salad), followed by Pad Thai, Red Curry and Thai Basil Chicken Rice.
Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad) – IDR 30.000++
This was nice, not the best one I have ever had, but at least it could satisfy my cravings about this salad for a while! I miss the raw long bean in original Thai som tum, though.
Pad Thai – IDR 50.000++
Pad Thai is probably one of the most popular Thai dishes after Tom Yam. Their pad thai is cooked with rice noodle, grounded nuts, bean sprouts, prawn and tofu. It was delicious, the taste wasn’t as strong as the one we can find in Thailand, but well, it was enjoyable.
Thai Basil Chicken Rice – IDR 50.000++
This is also one of the most simple yet popular Thai street food which you can find almost anywhere in Thailand. Personally, I think it was good, but not too similar with the original one. The taste was too salty for my tongue, and it was kind of monotone, there wasn’t the uniqueness of the ingredients that I could taste.
Thai Red Curry with Roast Duck – IDR 55.000++
This one is a must try! I like the consistency of the curry, it was thick but not too thick, so I didn’t feel bleh after eating it. The roast duck slices were fresh and meaty (and there were lots of them!), very tasty. The curry was nice and tasted strong, kind of curry that I like.
Durian Sticky Rice – IDR 40.000++
My favorite Thai dessert! Love the durian, so sweet! The sticky rice was softer than original ones but still very nice, I would come back to this place just for this.
Thai Iced Tea – IDR 30.000++
Quite good and refreshing, although it wasn’t worth the price.
